14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his
wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. 15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served
them.
16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who
were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all
who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah
the prophet, saying: “He Himself took
our infirmities And bore our
sicknesses.”

Vs. 14-15 14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. 15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
The Lord Jesus now comes into Peter’s house, (this occurs after Jesus having healed the centurion’s servant, then entered and taught in Capernaum’s synagogue, where He healed a demon possessed man on the Sabbath, and so upon leaving the synagogue Jesus and the apostles immediately go to Peters house, Mark 1:21-39). Now upon entering the house Jesus sees Peter’s mother lying sick with a fever, and with that Jesus touches her hand and immediately the fever leaves her. Notice that Jesus does not lay His hands on her head, or go through some protracted ritual, He merely touches her hand and the fever leaves her. And with that she arises and serves them, demonstrating not only her own gratitude, but more importantly the power of Christ to heal and restore us so that we might also serve Him.
Vs. 16-17 16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”
Now in the evening they bring to Jesus many who are demon-possessed or sick with various ailments, not only magnifying Christ’s Person and ministry but fulfilling the Word of God spoken through Isaiah the prophet which states: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.” Isaiah 53:4
Now the Scripture says that Jesus cast out the demons with a Word, something unheard of that a Man could exercise such absolute authority over any and all of the demonic realm. Equally revealing is that there was no one that the Lord Jesus Christ was unable to heal. All were healed by Him for it is the Lord Jesus Christ who bears our sicknesses and infirmities upon Himself, something which He did for us all on the cross so that we having died to our sins with Him might now live for righteousness (1 Peter 2:24) something as a true disciple of Christ I implore you all to do.
