33 “No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or
under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. 34 The lamp of the body is the eye.
Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But
when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore take heed that the
light which is in you is not darkness. 36 If then your whole body is
full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full
of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”
Commentary
This brief section here gives a nice connection from what the Lord Jesus Christ had just previously stated. For previously Jesus’ critics asked a sign from Him, and yet here He is God’s Son amongst them shinning so bright that He cannot be hidden from anyone who has willing eyes to see and willing ears to hear the Word of God from Him. Therefore, in this brief parable Jesus uses the example of the lit lamp to describe Himself saying that no one hides or puts a lit lamp under a basket so that one cannot see its light, but rather on a lampstand so that all may see its light and come to it! Jesus Christ then is God’s “lit lamp” so that all the world may see Him through Him (John 8:12, 9:5). Now having stated that, Jesus then goes onto to use the lamp analogy in another way, this time saying the lamp of the body is the eye, saying that, when your eye is good your whole body is also full of light, but when your eye is bad your whole body is also full of darkness (vs. 34). Thus, Jesus is first describing the wonderful condition of faith (i.e. a good eye) that sees and believes God’s Word, and thus He fills and radiates their person with the light of the world. Therefore, we now walk in the light and not in darkness, for all who truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ have been delivered from the power of darkness, and thus delivered from its lies and its stronghold in their persons and lives. In contrast to that then is the bad eye person who because their eye is bad do not see and thus believe in the light of the world from God. Therefore, their spiritual condition is only to have their whole body (or person) full of darkness! For just as the light completely penetrates ones who body, so does the darkness! There is then no mixing of the two. Therefore, Jesus’ warning about walking (i.e. believing) in the light while one has the light should never be taken lightly by anyone. For as He warns us all, to not do so is only to have the darkness overtake you! And when that happens to someone, they can no longer see the light, as was the case with them (see John 12:35-40; also Eph. 5:8).
Therefore, I will never accept the Satanic homosexual agenda which is bringing and justifying that moral abomination into the “social conscience” so as to “normalize it” it in the hearts, minds and lives of all those who have rejected God’s Word and Truth. For it is only forwarding the darkening of this world which is now embracing and celebrating and justifying more and more violence and ungodliness as it degenerates into a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah, and thus is preparing the way for the antichrist’s arrival and manifestation, as sinners reach their fullness. Therefore, knowing the end of all such things, I will not “normalize it” in my own conscience or anyone else’s. But according to the Word of God call all people to repentance from it (2 Peter 2:6; Jude 7); from all their sins and transgressions, with faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ, who alone can cleanse and heal and restore even the darkest of sinners back to God. Therefore, believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thus believing God’s Word as the sole moral and Spiritual “compass” for humanity, I hold fast to the Gospel of God and everlasting moral norms that He has established for all of mankind to live by in it. And thus, call all people to repentance towards God and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ so that they too may have remission of all their sins and new and everlasting life (Acts 20:21). And thus, be set free from the power of darkness, and have the Light of Word in your person and life, illuminating you and guiding you as you walk in the light and not in darkness. Therefore, be reconciled to God who made Jesus Christ who knew no sin to be sin for us (by bearing all our sins on the cross where He suffered and died for us) so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor. 5:21).
