Luke 18:28–30

28 Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.” 29 So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Commentary
Peter in seeing the ruler depart; for he loved his life in this life more than everlasting life; now says to Jesus, “See, we have left all and followed You.” Now when Jesus heard that, He assured the disciples that not only them, but everyone who has “…left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, shall receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.” Paraphrase Therefore in forsaking all and following Jesus Christ, Jesus now promises that every sacrifice believer’s make for the Kingdom of God will be exceedingly and abundantly rewarded. For having believed in the Lord Jesus Christ; and thus now having remission all our sins and new and everlasting life by God’s grace; following Jesus Christ in discipleship means what we do here and now is not a means to salvation (Rom. 4:4-5), but rather it is a by product of it, and thus, it will be rewarded, not only here and now, but also in eternity!
