Luke 21:29-33

29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Commentary
Vs. 29-31 29 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.

Having foretold of many things that will take place (some of which have already occurred and some near to being fulfilled). The Lord Jesus Christ now draws an analogy of the fig tree and how when it begins to bud people immediately realize that summer is now drawing near (vs. 29-30). Therefore, Jesus says when we see these things which He has already foretold us will happen take place, know that the Kingdom of God is near (vs. 31). That is the Kingdom in all of Its glory and manifestation coming to earth with the Lord Jesus Christ leading the armies of heaven with it!

Vs. 32-33 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Here the Lord Jesus Christ is referring to the generation in which these signs take place, and or as the Believers Bible Commentary also asserts that this “generation” is the generation or people of unbelief, specifically amongst the Jews, for BBC also says: “Another possibility is that “this generation” refers to the Jewish people in their attitude of hostility to Christ. The Lord was saying that the Jewish race would survive, scattered yet indestructible, and that its attitude toward Him would not change through the centuries.”.[1]
Now to confirm that His Words will stand throughout time and eternity the Lord Jesus Christ now says that: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” For truly this created heavens and earth will pass away, but the Lord Jesus Christ and His Words which will usher in the new heavens and new earth never will!
